Sales Representative resume example

Sales leaders read resumes looking for one thing first: did you hit your number, and against what? Quota attainment, deal size, sales cycle and ranking on the team turn a list of activities into proof you can sell. Everything else on the page should support that story.

Your resume stays on your device.

Tips for writing a sales professional resume

Lead every role with attainment

Your first bullet for each sales job should state quota attainment as a percentage and a revenue figure. Add team ranking or President’s Club if it applies, because it gives context that a raw number cannot.

Describe what and who you sold

Name the product category, deal size, customer segment and sales cycle length. “Sold $40K–$120K logistics software to mid-market distributors” tells a hiring manager far more than “sold software”.

Show the activity behind the results

Recruiters want to know you can generate pipeline, not only close it. Include prospecting volume, meetings booked or pipeline created, especially for SDR and new-business roles.

Keep numbers consistent and defensible

Interviewers often ask how you calculated a figure. Use the same fiscal period throughout and be ready to explain quota, territory and any team contribution.

Sales Representative resume FAQ

What if I missed quota one year?

You do not need to list attainment for every year. Highlight your strongest periods, or use cumulative figures such as “averaged 108% of quota over 3 years”. Be honest in interviews and explain what changed, such as a territory realignment.

Should I include President’s Club or sales awards?

Yes. Put them in the relevant job bullet or in a short awards section. They are trusted signals because they are earned against peers under the same conditions.

How do SDRs write a sales resume without closed revenue?

Focus on the metrics you owned: calls and emails per day, meetings booked, pipeline generated and conversion to opportunity. Mention any promotion or ranking on the team and the tools you used.

Is it okay to share revenue numbers from a previous employer?

Personal performance figures such as quota attainment and bookings are generally fine to share. Avoid confidential details like named customers under NDA or total company revenue that is not public.

Which skills matter most on a sales resume?

Prospecting, discovery, negotiation, pipeline management and your CRM are the core. Add industry knowledge if you sell to a specific market, because buyers trust reps who speak their language.
